ШЕВЧЕНКІВСЬКА ДОПОВІДЬ

Dr. THOMAS PRYMAK — prominent historian, research associate at the Centre for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, University of Toronto

This lecture discussed the man considered to be one of Russia’s greatest artists of the 19th century and his manifold connections to Ukraine, the land of his birth. Some of Repin’s most important paintings dealt with Ukrainian themes and Ukrainians were always to be found among his closest friends. The complex question of his national identity was examined and placed within the context of his own time.
